GUWAHATI, Oct 10: Gauhati University has clarified that it has neither received a request for permission nor authorised a Freshers’ Welcome programme for the Brahmin community announced in a circulated poster.
In an advisory, the university administration urged students, parents and the public not to consider the event an officially approved programme or one organised or endorsed by the university.
The administration cautioned against relying on unverified posters, forwarded messages and unofficial announcements related to the event. It also urged students and members of the public to verify information before believing, sharing or participating in such programmes.
The university advised the public to rely exclusively on its official notifications and verified social media handles for information about university-related events.
The clarification followed the circulation of a poster announcing the Freshers’ Welcome programme for the Brahmin community in the university’s name.
