Sonitpur District Orders Expulsion of Five Declared Foreigners Following Tribunal Ruling

The District Administration of Sonitpur has acted decisively, issuing expulsion orders against five individuals who were officially declared as foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunal No. 2, Sonitpur. The Tribunal, after considering references initiated by the Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur, back in 2006, declared Musst. Hanufa, Md. Amjad Ali, Musst. Mariyam Nessa, Musst. Fatema, and Musst. Monowara, all residents of Dhobokata village under Jamugurihat Police Station, as Declared Foreigners (DFN).

Based on these judicial findings, the competent authority determined that the ongoing presence of these five individuals in Assam constituted a direct threat to both internal security and public interest. Consequently, Shri Ananda Kumar Das, the District Commissioner of Sonitpur, utilized the powers vested in him through Section 2 of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950, and the delegation of authority by a Government of India notification dated March 20, 1950. The Commissioner directed the five individuals to leave the State of Assam within a strict 24-hour deadline.

The expulsion is slated to be executed through one of three designated routes: Dhubri, Sribhumi, or South Salmara–Mankachar. Authorities have issued a clear warning that any failure to adhere to this order will immediately trigger the initiation of appropriate legal action for their removal from the State, as per the provisions outlined in the 1950 Act. The District Administration has underscored that the issuance of this order is under the authority of the Government of Assam, strictly aimed at upholding public interest and ensuring security throughout the region.
