The 26th edition of the Hornbill Festival began in Kohima with more than 22,000 visitors marking the opening day. Organised by the Directorate of Tourism, the ten-day cultural festival will run until 10 December.
According to official data, the first day recorded a total of 22,508 attendees, including 363 foreign tourists, 5,314 domestic visitors and 16,831 local participants from Nagaland. The figures underscored the festival’s continued appeal as one of the state’s most significant annual events.
The Hornbill Festival is known for celebrating Naga cultural heritage through traditional performances, crafts and cuisine. Authorities have not yet released attendance figures for the remaining days, and further updates are expected as the festival progresses.
