Arms Cache Seized in Churachandpur, Five Illegal Bunkers Destroyed in Kangpokpi

Imphal, April 29: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives in Churachandpur district and demolished five illegal bunkers in Kangpokpi district during coordinated operations carried out on April 28, officials said.

According to reports, a search operation was conducted in Maovom village and adjoining areas under Churachandpur Police Station. During the exercise, security personnel seized one AK-47 rifle, three single-barrel firearms, a pistol with a magazine, a pompi, two 35 mm grenades and an 81 mm mortar bomb. The recovered items have been taken into custody for further investigation and legal proceedings.

In a separate operation on the same day, forces dismantled five illegal bunkers under the jurisdiction of Saikul Police Station. The structures included one bunker at Tingpibung village, three at Lungter Hill and another at Leplen village.

Officials stated that the actions form part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and curb unlawful activities in sensitive areas of the state. Further investigation and area domination exercises are continuing, they added.
