ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh strengthened its power infrastructure with the successful energisation of the 132 kV Aalo-Kamba transmission line and the 132/33 kV Kamba substation in West Siang district.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the Power and Non-Conventional Energy Resources portfolio, said the commissioning marked a significant step towards improving the state’s energy security and power reliability.
Mein said the upgraded transmission network would improve grid stability and increase the capacity to meet Arunachal Pradesh’s growing electricity requirements.
The newly commissioned infrastructure would also support construction activities related to the Tato Hydroelectric Power Projects in Shi-Yomi district, strengthening the foundation for the state’s expanding power sector.
The commissioning formed part of a broader initiative to modernise and expand electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh. Project officials said 95 of the 239 components under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening Transmission and Distribution System (CSST&DS) had so far been energised.
Mein commended the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), the Department of Power, executing agencies, district administrations and local stakeholders for their efforts in completing the project.
The expanded network is expected to provide a more reliable energy backbone for domestic consumption and upcoming industrial projects across the state.
