GUWAHATI, Oct 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to empowering girls through education, opportunities, safety and support on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child.
In a post on X, Sarma said every girl carried dreams and possibilities and deserved the support needed to realise her potential.
“Our daughters are Assam’s future. We will always stand with them,” he wrote.
The Chief Minister’s message came amid concerns over the safety of young women, including the death of Assamese student Himashree Boro in Andhra Pradesh.
