Heavy Rain Triggers Flooding in Itanagar, Officer’s Colony Among Worst-Hit Areas

Relentless monsoon showers pounded Arunachal Pradesh’s capital, Itanagar, causing widespread flooding and waterlogging in several parts of the city, with Officer’s Colony along Zoo Road emerging as one of the most severely affected localities.

Continuous rainfall submerged roads and residential areas, disrupting normal life and allowing floodwaters to enter houses and colonies. Residents faced difficulties commuting as many roads remained under water.

Among the worst-hit locations was Officer’s Colony, an important residential and administrative area situated on Zoo Road. The locality, which accommodates senior government officers’ quarters and several key administrative and support establishments, remained inundated following the heavy downpour, raising concerns among residents and officials.

Scenes from the area showed submerged roads and flooded residential compounds, underlining the severity of the situation. The colony lies on the route leading to the Biological Park Itanagar, commonly referred to as the Itanagar Zoo.

The rainfall has once again brought attention to drainage-related issues in parts of the state capital, with residents urging the authorities to take immediate steps to improve water evacuation systems and address recurring monsoon flooding.

Officials are keeping a close watch on the evolving situation as rain continues to affect the region. Authorities have advised people to exercise caution and stay away from waterlogged areas to avoid any untoward incidents.
