Agartala: Heavy rainfall in the hill areas has raised the water level of the Howrah River in Tripura, flooding several low-lying parts of Agartala and forcing water into homes.
Several houses in residential areas along the riverbanks have reported water ingress, prompting authorities to place residents in vulnerable localities on alert.
The administration has deployed boats to reach waterlogged areas and assist in evacuating residents from severely affected locations. Rescue teams are also supporting people affected by the rising water.
Officials are closely monitoring the river as rainfall continues in the hills. Further showers could raise the Howrah’s water level and worsen flooding in low-lying parts of the city.
Authorities are preparing to shift residents from vulnerable neighbourhoods to safer locations if the situation deteriorates. Residents have been advised to remain alert and follow instructions from local officials as rescue and relief operations continue.
