Manipur Security Forces Destroy Illegal Bunkers, Recover Arms and Explosives in Separate Operations

Imphal, May 27: Security forces in Manipur conducted two separate operations on May 26, leading to the demolition of illegal bunkers in Ukhrul district and the recovery of a significant cache of arms, explosives and communication equipment from Churachandpur district.

In an operation carried out by Manipur Police under the jurisdiction of Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district, security personnel demolished one illegal bunker at Patleijang village and two additional bunkers located at Roudei village in the TM Kasom area.

During the operation, police recovered a suspected improvised explosive device weighing approximately five kilograms, two pompi guns, two Baofeng radio sets along with a charger, three live 12-bore cartridges and 12 empty cartridge cases of different calibres.

In another operation conducted in the forest area of Hengkot village under Churachandpur Police Station, security forces recovered a large quantity of arms and explosives from the site.

The seized items included an MK-II rifle with a magazine, an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, a .303 rifle, a 12-bore rifle, two country-made rifles, a country-made sniper rifle, two SBML guns and an SBBL gun.

Security personnel also recovered five improvised explosive devices, two wireless communication handsets, a country-made lathod launcher, magazine pouches, camouflage jungle boots and a camouflage hat.

In addition to the weapons and equipment, officials recovered 13 empty 12-bore cartridges and three live rounds during the search operation.

Authorities stated that search and area domination operations are continuing in vulnerable and fringe areas across Manipur as part of ongoing security measures.
