Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava conducted a two-day inspection of key railway infrastructure and operational facilities at Agartala and Sekerkote railway stations in Tripura under the Lumding Division on June 18 and 19. Accompanied by senior railway officials, Shrivastava reviewed track conditions, railway assets, passenger amenities and ongoing development projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and rail connectivity in the state. He inspected track maintenance standards, ballast conditions, drainage systems, bridges and other critical infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable train operations, particularly in Tripura’s challenging terrain and heavy rainfall conditions.

At Agartala Railway Station, the General Manager assessed passenger facilities, including escalators, lifts and other amenities. He also reviewed the progress of railway electrification and modernization projects designed to enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency. During the visit, Shrivastava inspected the Agartala Coaching Depot, focusing on coach maintenance, cleanliness, safety compliance and operational preparedness. He also reviewed facilities at the Running Room, emphasizing the importance of staff welfare and quality amenities for train operating crews. On the occasion, he inaugurated a new lift at Agartala Railway Station.
Tripura has witnessed significant improvements in rail connectivity since the introduction of broad-gauge services in 2016. Major projects such as the Agartala-Akhaura International Rail Link, Narangi-Agartala Express and proposed Electric MEMU and Vande Bharat services are expected to further boost connectivity and support the state’s socio-economic development. The inspection reflects NFR’s continued commitment to strengthening railway infrastructure, improving passenger services and maintaining high standards of safety across the Northeast.
