Shillong, April 21: Nongkseh SSCC delivered the most dominant performance of the ongoing 5th Meghalaya State League, thrashing Umkaber SCC 13-0 in a Group A encounter at SSA Stadium on April 20.
The one-sided contest highlighted Nongkseh’s attacking prowess, with Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Shano Tariang scoring hat-tricks. Khrawkupar Jana, Kitboklang Pale and Sheen Sohktung added two goals each, while an own goal further compounded Umkaber’s difficulties. The situation worsened after Andriano P Mawlong was sent off in the first half, leaving his side with ten men as they conceded heavily before and after the break.
Shillong-based teams dominated across groups, with all five sides in action registering victories and moving to the top of their respective tables.
Defending champions Mawlai SC secured a 6-1 win over Lamin XI SCC in Group C at Amlarem. Damanbhalang Chyne netted a hat-trick, supported by goals from Arkibor Makhroh, Basuklang Bina and Wadshwa Latoo.
In Group B at the MFA Ground, Nangkiew Irat SC defeated Mawphu SC 3-0, with first-half strikes from Dibinroy Nongspung and Banshanlang Nongdhar.
A’chik SCO Rongjeng recorded a similar 3-0 victory over Attong Matgrik FC in Group G at Williamnagar, scoring all goals in the second half.
In Group F, Umlakro SC edged Mishon SSCC 1-0 at Mairang, with Jewelstar R Marak scoring the decisive early goal.
Group E saw Shillong Lajong FC defeat Lamyrsiang SCC 3-1 at Wahiajer, with goals from Hamedamanbha Wahlang, Lalmuansanga and Deibormame Tongper.
Former champions Rangdajied United FC also maintained momentum with a 3-1 win over Seng Samla Umdang Pyllun in Group H at Mawkyrwat.
The only draw of the day came in Group D at Khliehriat, where Ladthadlaboh SC came from two goals down to hold Jalaphet Moochut Pyrdung SC to a 2-2 draw, with late goals from Andrew Nanghuloo and Evening Tariang.
Matches across all groups are set to continue on April 21 at multiple venues.
