Rishabh Pant Eyes Historic Six-Hitting Record in One-Off Afghanistan Test

New Chandigarh: India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is on the verge of creating history in Test cricket as he prepares for the one-off Test against Afghanistan beginning on Saturday. Pant needs just six more sixes to become the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to reach the landmark of 100 sixes in Test cricket, a feat that would further cement his reputation as one of the most explosive batters in the longest format of the game.

The left-hander enters the match in New Chandigarh with an impressive Test record and is set to play his 50th Test for India, adding another milestone to an already remarkable career. Pant has established himself as a match-winner in overseas and home conditions alike, with several memorable performances against top-ranked teams. The upcoming Test against Afghanistan offers Pant an opportunity not only to achieve the six-hitting record but also to reaffirm his importance to India’s red-ball setup. Despite losing the vice-captaincy role recently, the wicketkeeper-batter remains a key member of the squad and is expected to play a crucial role in the middle order.

India’s coaching staff has backed Pant’s natural attacking style while emphasizing the need to adapt to match situations. Head coach Gautam Gambhir recently stated that Pant should continue playing his natural game while showing awareness of the demands of the contest. With a historic milestone within reach and a significant Test match ahead, all eyes will be on Pant as India begin their World Test Championship campaign against Afghanistan this weekend.
