Rail connectivity through Assam’s hill section was disrupted after the engine of the Silchar–Guwahati Express (Train No. 15615) derailed at Badarpur Railway Bridge. No casualties were reported.
The incident led to the cancellation of the Guwahati–Silchar Express (Train No. 15516), while several other trains operating through the hill section were detained at different stations, disrupting services.
Restoration work was underway at the site, with sources indicating that the process was expected to be completed by Thursday evening.
Railway authorities were yet to issue further updates on the resumption of normal services. Passengers were advised to check official railway announcements before travelling.
