Tripura Congress MLA and former minister Sudip Roy Barman has been appointed as one of 31 observers by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to oversee the party’s ‘Vote Bachao–Desh Bachao’ campaign across clusters of districts.
The appointments were approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and took immediate effect, according to a press release issued by AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal on October 16, 2026.
The observers will coordinate and monitor the campaign in their respective district clusters. Titled ‘Vote Bachao–Desh Bachao’ (Save the Vote, Save the Nation), the initiative focuses on electoral issues and the protection of democratic rights, according to the party.
