Teenage Tourist Missing After Fall at Wei Sawdong Falls in Meghalaya’s Sohra

Shillong, April 30: A 15-year-old girl from Firozabad district has gone missing after allegedly falling into a waterfall in Sohra on Wednesday, triggering an ongoing search operation by rescue teams.

The incident took place at Wei Sawdong Falls, a popular tourist destination, where the teenager had travelled with her family. According to officials, she reportedly slipped while attempting to take photographs near the waterfall and fell into a deep natural pool.

Rescue teams were deployed immediately and conducted an extensive search operation throughout the day. However, despite sustained efforts, the girl could not be located before nightfall.

Authorities said the operation had to be suspended after sunset due to poor visibility and the challenging terrain surrounding the site. A senior official confirmed that the State Response Team (SRT) would resume the search on Thursday morning.

Officials added that further efforts would continue until the missing girl is traced.
