Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has stressed the need for joint efforts by public representatives, civil society organisations and citizens to ensure effective waste management and promote environmental sustainability across the state.
Addressing a state-level workshop on the role of public representatives and civil society organisations under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of community participation in creating a cleaner and more environmentally conscious society.
During the programme, Saha launched the Swachhata App and unveiled the Swachhata Slogan. He expressed confidence that the new initiatives would strengthen the state’s efforts towards efficient waste management, environmental protection and the goal of building a greener Tripura.
The workshop aimed to promote awareness and encourage greater cooperation among stakeholders for the implementation of sustainable waste management practices. Discussions centred on enhancing public participation and fostering a collective approach to maintaining cleanliness and environmental well-being throughout the state.
Saha reiterated that the active involvement of communities and organisations is crucial for achieving long-term success in waste management and ensuring a sustainable future for Tripura.
