Virat Kohli Praises Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s Consistency in IPL 2026

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli has showered praise on Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his outstanding performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season, calling his success a result of technical skill, consistency and belief. The veteran pacer, representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has claimed 22 wickets so far and currently stands as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. His impressive form has reignited discussions around a possible return to the Indian national side despite India focusing on a younger T20I squad for the future.

Speaking on RCB’s podcast with presenter Mayanti Langer, Kohli highlighted how players with strong technical foundations are able to overcome difficult phases in their careers. “When you have technical ability in place, you can always adjust and especially when you are going through a tough phase, it is easier for the guys who have a technical foundation to find a way,” Kohli said. The former India captain further explained that Bhuvneshwar’s success lies in his discipline and ability to repeatedly hit the right lengths rather than relying on extravagant swing deliveries.

“He is bowling at a length that tells batters, ‘I am good enough to hit this length every time.’ It’s repetition, execution, uncomplicated consistency backed with tremendous belief,” Kohli remarked. Kohli also pointed out that Bhuvneshwar has already registered six three-wicket hauls in just 11 matches while maintaining an economy rate below eight, describing the achievement as “crazy.” Bhuvneshwar’s remarkable comeback season has been one of the major talking points of IPL 2026 and has strengthened RCB’s bowling attack significantly.
