Sivasagar: A mental health awareness programme was successfully organised at St Peter’s School, Nazira, in collaboration with the Nazira College Unit of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad, with the aim of sensitising students to the importance of mental well-being. The programme was conducted by eminent psychiatrist Dr Syeda Jahanara Jannat, who addressed students on various aspects of mental health, including stress management, emotional balance and the need to seek timely professional help. Her interactive session encouraged students to speak openly about mental health concerns and helped dispel common misconceptions.
The event was attended by distinguished guests Utpala Konwar, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Ruhit Baruah and Mintu Baruah, who shared their views on the growing importance of mental health awareness among young people. They also interacted with students, exchanging ideas and motivating them to prioritise their mental and emotional health alongside academics.

The programme was anchored by teacher Sunil Tappoi and held under the supervision of school principal William Minz. Several teachers of the school and representatives from the Nazira College Unit were present on the occasion, lending their support to the initiative.
A vote of thanks was proposed by teacher Anamika Handique, who expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person, guests and organisers for their valuable contributions. The school authorities stated that similar programmes would be organised in the future to support the intellectual, emotional and mental development of students.
