PM Modi to Land and Take Off from Moran Highway Airstrip During Assam Visit on February 14

Guwahati, Feb 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make history during his visit to Assam on February 14 by landing and taking off from the highway landing strip at Moran in Dibrugarh district.

Official sources said the Prime Minister will first arrive at Chabua Air Force Base and then proceed to Moran, where he will use the specially developed highway strip for both landing and take-off. Such an operation by a sitting Prime Minister is considered a rare event, underscoring the strategic importance of highway airstrips.

The programme will feature a flypast and landing display by fighter jets and other Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft, highlighting the country’s defence preparedness and the operational utility of highway runways during emergencies. Officials noted that the Moran strip demonstration reflects India’s growing focus on strengthening infrastructure for defence and disaster-response capabilities.

Following the event, PM Modi will depart for Guwahati from Moran aboard a C-130 aircraft, again using the highway airstrip for take-off, further showcasing the facility’s operational readiness.
