Guwahati, Feb 27: Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 26 fixed March 10 as the new deadline to conclude the seat-sharing arrangement within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, days after describing the pact as a “done deal”.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Sarma said discussions with two alliance partners are still underway and nearing completion. He stated that talks with the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) would be wrapped up within a day or two, while negotiations with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) are expected to conclude by March 9 or 10.
He expressed confidence that all formalities would be settled by March 10, enabling the NDA to officially announce its alliance framework. The Chief Minister’s comments suggest that discussions are in their final phase, with the formal declaration of the coalition likely once seat-sharing terms with key regional partners are sealed.
