Guwahati, March 6: Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, on March 6 said that members of the indigenous Muslim community in the state have expressed strong support for the Bharatiya Janata Party and have even contributed to the party’s election fund.
Speaking at a gathering held at Rangoli Pathar in Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district, the Chief Minister said that members of the indigenous Muslim community had donated Rs 11,000 to the BJP’s election fund as a mark of their support for the party. Sarma thanked the community for the contribution and described it as a meaningful gesture.
“Our indigenous Muslim community fully supports the BJP in Assam, and we have witnessed the same here. Members of this community have contributed Rs 11,000 to the party’s election fund, for which I thank them from the bottom of my heart,” he said while addressing the gathering.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that the donation was made during the holy month of Ramadan, a period when Muslims observe fasting and prayers. He expressed hope that members of the community would continue to offer prayers and blessings for the party.
“This is the month of Ramadan, and everyone is observing fasts. I hope everyone prays and blesses the BJP party,” Sarma added.
The remarks were made during the Chief Minister’s visit to the Naharkatia area as political activities continue to intensify in Assam in the run-up to the upcoming elections.
