Six Killed in Ambulance–Truck Collision at Dhekiajuli in Assam’s Sonitpur

Guwahati, March 23: Six people were killed on the spot in a tragic road accident at Rabartola in Dhekiajuli under Sonitpur district on the evening of March 22, following a head-on collision between an ambulance and a container truck.

The deceased have been identified as Vijay Hansa, the driver of the ambulance, along with Hari Madgi, Kunal Karmakar, Sanjita Nath, Bishwas Nath, and Sandhyachari Nath. All were reportedly workers of Tulip Tea Garden. Among them, Sanjita Nath, Bishwas Nath, and Sandhyachari Nath belonged to the same family.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 6 pm in the Orang–Dhekiajuli stretch when the ambulance collided directly with the truck, resulting in severe impact and immediate fatalities.

Officials at Shaheed Manbar Nath Hospital confirmed that all six victims, including the driver, died at the scene. Two other individuals sustained critical injuries and were referred to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.

Police and emergency teams reached the spot soon after the incident and initiated necessary procedures. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
