BJP’s Bhabesh Kalita Confident of Third Term in Assam, Credits Modi-Sarma Leadership

Guwahati, March 28: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Rangia, Bhabesh Kalita, on March 28 expressed strong confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance will secure a decisive mandate in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

Kalita said voters in Assam are likely to once again back the ruling alliance, paving the way for a third consecutive term. He attributed this optimism to the leadership of Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, crediting them with driving development across the state.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have driven development in the state. People will support the BJP and NDA in the April 9 Assembly elections with hopes of a historic victory. There is no real challenge,” Kalita said, noting that the electorate had already endorsed the party in 2016 and 2021.

Earlier, Modi also highlighted Assam’s development trajectory over the past decade and voiced confidence in the NDA’s continued success, stating that the state is prepared for “five more years of the double-engine NDA government.” He is scheduled to engage with party workers and citizens through a virtual rally on the NaMo App on March 30 as part of the “Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot Samvaad – Assam” initiative.

Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies in the state will be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4, according to the Election Commission of India.

The elections are expected to see a direct contest between the incumbent NDA government and the Congress, with the ruling alliance aiming to retain power while the opposition seeks a return. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to contest from the Jalukbari constituency.
