Guwahati, April 10: The Gauhati Commerce College (GCC) has announced with pride that Dr. Narayan Ch. Gahatraj, Assistant Professor of English and Cadet Training Officer (CTO) under 1 Assam Battalion NCC, has been commissioned as an Associate NCC Officer (ANO) with the rank of Honorary Lieutenant on April 4.
Dr. Gahatraj successfully completed the 90-day Pre-Commission (PRCN) Training Course conducted from January 5 to April 4, 2026, at the NCC Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee, Nagpur.
Speaking to The Assam Rising, Prof. Bipul Das, Principal, Gauhati Commerce College, said, “I am extremely happy with his achievement. It is a historic moment for the entire GCC family. We are proud of his accomplishment and will celebrate the occasion tomorrow along with pre-Bihu festivities on the college campus.”
Meanwhile, Colonel Manohar Anant Deshmukh, Commanding Officer, 1 Assam Battalion NCC, said, “I am very happy with his achievement. He worked hard and successfully completed the three-month training programme. His commissioning will strengthen the training of NCC cadets both at the college level and within the battalion.”
“His achievement has brought pride not only to his respective institution but also the 1 Assam Battalion, NCC Group Headquarters Guwahati, and the entire North Eastern Region (NER) Directorate”, added the Commanding Officer.
Notably, a total of 513 CTOs from across the country were commissioned as ANOs upon completion of the 90-day course.
