Guwahati, April 11: The media fraternity in Dhubri is in mourning following the sudden demise of veteran journalist Pradip Kumar Sen, who was serving as the President of the Agomoni Press Club. He is survived by his wife and two minor daughters.
Sen, associated with NKTV Plus, passed away on Saturday at a private nursing home in Dhubri. According to family members and colleagues, he was initially rushed to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital early in the morning after falling ill.
As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Guwahati Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, his health reportedly worsened significantly during the transition after being moved out of the hospital premises. In view of his rapidly declining condition, he was redirected to Chilarai Nursing Home in Dhubri, where he succumbed shortly after being admitted despite efforts by the attending medical team.
A respected figure in the border district, Sen was known for his commitment to journalism and his leadership role in the Agomoni Press Club. His passing has deeply impacted the local community, with journalists, social activists, and political leaders expressing grief.
Ashiqure Rahman, president of the Dhubri Bartajibi Sangha, described him as a mentor to many young journalists and praised his dedication to highlighting issues of the Agomoni region.
Sen’s demise is being seen as a significant loss to the media fraternity in Lower Assam. Various press organisations have extended condolences to the bereaved family, and a memorial meeting is expected to be organised to honour his contributions to journalism.
