Udalguri-Sonitpur, April 13: A young nature enthusiast, Raj Saurav Borkotoki, has been gaining attention in Sonitpur district for his remarkable work as an emerging snake rescuer and wildlife conservation advocate.

Operating across areas such as Dhekiajuli, Tezpur, Borsola, Bihaguri and Rongapara, Raj has been actively involved not only in rescuing snakes but also in tree plantation drives and the rescue of turtles, birds and other wildlife species.

On April 12, 2026, Raj, along with his father and snake expert Saurav Borkotoki, successfully rescued a rat snake and released it into a suitable natural habitat. Despite his young age, he has overcome fear and is steadily building confidence in handling rescue operations.

Currently undergoing systematic training under his father’s guidance, Raj said he has been learning about snakes for the past two years. He stressed the importance of proper training and awareness, noting that correct identification of venomous and non-venomous snakes is essential before attempting any rescue.

His growing involvement in wildlife conservation and environmental protection has made him a notable young figure in the region, inspiring others towards nature-friendly initiatives.
