Balmanduri FC Thrash Attong Matgrik 7-1 in Meghalaya State League Clash

WILLIAMNAGAR, April 23: Balmanduri FC produced a commanding performance to defeat Attong Matgrik FC 7-1 in a Group G fixture of the Meghalaya State League, registering one of the most emphatic victories of the tournament so far.

The match was the only fixture scheduled for the day, with other groups on a break. Group G, comprising five teams, follows a tighter schedule, resulting in more frequent matches.

Balmanduri, representing North Garo Hills, bounced back strongly after their opening loss on April 18, taking early control and scoring four goals in the first half. Goodnear Marak opened the scoring in the 21st minute, followed by Jurisbirth Marak in the 30th. Ganapati Rabha extended the lead in the 41st minute before captain Chichang M Momin made it 4-0 just before the interval.

The second half saw continued dominance, with substitutes Nilaybhumi Rabha and Dipunjay Rabha adding goals in the 70th and 75th minutes. Jurisbirth Marak completed his brace in the 81st minute, taking the tally to seven.

Attong Matgrik managed a late consolation through Sunil M Marak in the 85th minute, marking their first goal of the season. The South Garo Hills side, which had lost its previous two matches without scoring, remains at the bottom of the Group G standings.

Group G action resumes on April 24, when A’chik SCO Rongjeng face Janepih YSCA at 3 pm.
