Duliajan, May 24: The 9th Greater Duliajan Inter-School Football Tournament 2026 commenced on Friday at Nehru Maidan in Duliajan. The tournament has been organised by the Duliajan Football Academy under the patronage of Oil India Limited.
The inaugural day featured a sub-junior pre-quarterfinal match in which Christ King High School defeated New Vista School 3-1.
Suraj Yadav opened the scoring for Christ King High School in the 20th minute, while Nihal Chetry equalised for New Vista School in the 25th minute. Christ King regained the lead in the second half through Sebastian Logan in the 47th minute before Surajit Dekai added another goal in the 50th minute to secure the victory.
Sebastian Logan was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance.
The opening ceremony was attended by Rana Bharali, General Manager of Oil India Limited, as chief guest. Players, sports enthusiasts, teachers and local residents were present in large numbers to witness the inaugural programme and match.
The tournament is expected to see participation from several schools across the Greater Duliajan area and aims to promote football and sportsmanship among young students.
