Sualkuchi, May 24: The developmental activities in the No. 30 Hajo–Sualkuchi Assembly Constituency gained momentum as newly elected MLA Prakash Chandra Das initiated his first major infrastructure project on Saturday.
The MLA laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the Velamari–Bongaltola road, connecting Tokradia Majorchupa to Velamari, addressing a long-pending demand of local residents. The project is being implemented under the Chief Minister’s Poti Path Nirman Achani, supported by NABARD’s RIDF-XXXI for the financial year 2025–26.
The road, which had remained in a deteriorated condition for years, is expected to significantly improve connectivity and ease transportation challenges in the region. The ceremony was held in a traditional setting and was attended by local residents and community representatives in large numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stated that strengthening the road network and improving public infrastructure remained a key priority for his constituency. He said the completion of the project would benefit students, traders and farmers by improving access and reducing travel difficulties.
He further added that efforts would continue to address development-related concerns across all parts of the constituency in a phased manner.
The initiative was welcomed by local residents, who expressed optimism that the upgraded road would enhance mobility and contribute to better economic activity in the area.
