Himanta Biswa Sarma Hails Blood Donors on World Blood Donor Day, Reiterates Focus on Healthcare Infrastructure

Guwahati, June 14: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 14 expressed gratitude to voluntary blood donors for their life-saving contributions and reiterated the State government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure.

Observing World Blood Donor Day, Sarma took to social media platform X to acknowledge the role played by blood donors in supporting the healthcare system and saving countless lives through their selfless acts.

“Donate blood, save lives. On World Blood Donor Day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to every blood donor whose selfless act has helped save countless lives,” the Chief Minister said.

He also highlighted the efforts being undertaken by the Assam government to improve the healthcare ecosystem, stating that the State has been focusing on enhancing blood banking facilities and promoting awareness programmes to encourage voluntary blood donation.

World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on June 14 to emphasise the importance of ensuring the availability of safe blood and blood products and to honour the contribution of voluntary, unpaid blood donors to healthcare systems across the world.
