Gangtok: The first coordination meeting for a high-altitude supercar rally, supported by the Black Cat Division under the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army and the Government of Sikkim, was held on Tuesday at the mini hall of the District Administrative Centre in Gangtok. The gathering marked the formal kick-off of preparations for the upcoming event.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Gangtok District Collector Tushar G. Nikhare, Additional Political Secretary Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha and a representative of the Indian Army. Senior officials from multiple state departments, including SP Gangtok Mahendra Subba and OSD to the Chief Minister Rewaj Chettri, were also in attendance.
Organised by the Mumbai-based Super Car Route group, the rally will showcase luxury automobiles such as Lamborghinis and Porsches. Promoted as a self-driven and self-funded initiative, the event aims to strengthen Sikkim’s position as one of India’s most scenic and premium road-trip destinations. The Trishakti Corps is supporting the programme as part of Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan, a Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Tourism initiative designed to offer immersive access to historic battlefields, including Cho La, a high-altitude pass known for its role in the 1967 Indo-China clashes.
Scheduled from 11 to 15 December, the rally will begin in Sukna, West Bengal, before travelling through Siliguri, Gangtok, Cho La, Natu La and the Gnathang–Zuluk circuit. The curated route is expected to highlight Sikkim’s striking mountain terrain, border landscapes and pristine alpine roads.
During the meeting, organisers sought logistical and departmental support. The District Collector assured full cooperation, while the Additional Political Secretary suggested incorporating state government schemes into the rally’s digital promotions to enhance outreach. Officials noted that the event would be entirely funded by participating supercar owners, who will bring their own vehicles.
OSD to the Chief Minister Rewaj Chettri extended a vote of thanks, expressing confidence that the rally would boost Sikkim’s visibility and showcase the strength of its road infrastructure. Representatives from the Trishakti Corps, SAMSA, Brothers and various government offices took part in the discussions.
