Four Bangladeshi Rescued: Police Uncover Cross-Border Trafficking Racket

Dhubri: In a significant breakthrough against human trafficking, Assam Railway Police rescued four young Bangladeshi women at Rangiya Railway Station after they were allegedly smuggled into India through the Golakganj border. The racket reportedly brought them across by paying nearly ₹1.5 lakh, after luring them with promises of lucrative job opportunities.

Their journey came to an abrupt end when police intercepted them during transit to other states. Investigators believe the women were being trafficked with the intent of forcing them into immoral activities.

All four hail from different districts of Bangladesh—Madaripur, Pabna, Gazipur, and Netrokona—and were brought in illegally under the guise of employment.

Authorities have begun a deeper probe into the trafficking network responsible for the crime and are working to identify those involved in facilitating their cross-border movement. Coordination with Bangladeshi officials is also underway to ensure the women’s safety and eventual repatriation.
