Shillong, Dec 30: The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association celebrated its 44th foundation day with a ceremony in Shillong that honoured black belt achievers, medal-winning karatekas, coaches and officials for their sustained contribution to the growth of the sport in the state.
The event, held at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall, brought together practitioners, trainers and office-bearers of the association, reflecting on more than four decades of organised karate in Meghalaya.
A major highlight of the programme was the presentation of black belt certificates to 22 karatekas who had successfully passed their 1st Dan and 2nd Dan examinations, marking an important milestone in their martial arts journey. Athletes who had won medals at national and regional competitions were also felicitated, while coaches and officials received recognition for their role in nurturing talent and strengthening the association.
