Afzalur Rahman to Plant Over 100 Nahor Saplings in Assam on World Environment Day

Udalguri-Sonitpur, June 3: On the occasion of World Environment Day, noted nature enthusiast Afzalur Rahman from Dhekiajuli has announced an initiative to plant more than 100 Nahor saplings across different locations, including local LP schools.

The initiative is being undertaken as part of a statewide plantation programme led by Seuj Society, which plans to plant over 1,000 Nahor saplings across Assam this year to mark World Environment Day.

The programme has been dedicated to singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, with organisers selecting Nahor saplings, considered among his preferred trees, to promote environmental awareness and conservation.

Rahman, who is an active volunteer of the organisation, said his target is to contribute meaningfully to the campaign by expanding plantation activities in educational institutions and public spaces in Dhekiajuli. His efforts, organisers noted, have encouraged local participation in environmental initiatives.

Seuj Society has expressed hope that such grassroots efforts will strengthen community involvement in afforestation and support long-term ecological sustainability across the state.
