Alleged Drug Peddler Arrested With Suspected Narcotics in Assam’s Sivasagar

Sivasagar Police intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse with the arrest of an alleged drug peddler during an operation in the Jengonikatia area of Assam’s Sivasagar district on June 12.

The accused, identified as Hanif Ali, was apprehended while allegedly transporting narcotic substances to an undisclosed location.

During the operation, police recovered and seized eight containers from his possession, each containing around 15 grams of suspected narcotic substances.

Following the seizure, police launched an investigation to trace the source of the contraband and determine its intended destination. Further legal proceedings are underway.

The latest arrest comes amid sustained anti-drug operations in the district. A day earlier, Sivasagar Police had detained two youths for allegedly consuming drugs near the entrance of the Sivasagar District Jail, underscoring the administration’s continued efforts to tackle drug-related activities.

Authorities have reiterated their resolve to maintain strict action against drug peddlers and substance abuse as part of the district’s ongoing campaign against narcotics.
