Two entrepreneurs from Assam’s Dhubri district were allegedly assaulted and robbed by a group of miscreants in Jogighopa under Bongaigaon district, police said.
The victims, identified as Akidul Momin and Munna Khan, are residents of Bilasipara and are engaged in the business of providing DSLR and drone cameras on rent.
According to preliminary information, the duo had travelled to Jogighopa after receiving a request for a camera rental assignment. The alleged clients had reportedly paid an advance amount of Rs 4,500 and asked them to bring their equipment to an area near Tamranga-Konara Beel.
Police said that after reaching the spot, the two men were allegedly confronted by four unidentified assailants who arrived in two vehicles. The attackers reportedly snatched their camera equipment and mobile phones before assaulting them with sharp weapons.
Both victims sustained serious injuries in the incident.
The injured men later alleged that, fearing for their lives, they spent the night hiding in the waters of Tamranga-Konara Beel before eventually seeking assistance.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the Uttar Salmara Police Outpost. Police personnel visited the scene and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the alleged robbery and attack.
Officials said efforts are underway to trace the suspects and recover the stolen items.
