Assam Inaugurates Rs 72-Crore Madhapur Railway Over Bridge in Dibrugarh

The Assam Government on June 21 opened the newly built Madhapur Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district, a key infrastructure project developed at an estimated cost of Rs 72 crore.

Built under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the 830-metre-long bridge is expected to enhance road connectivity and provide safer and more efficient transportation facilities for the region.

With the commissioning of the overbridge, delays caused by the closure of railway level crossings are expected to be eliminated, easing traffic congestion and improving travel time for commuters as well as commercial vehicles.

Officials said the project would contribute to safer road movement while strengthening links between important areas of Dibrugarh district. Improved connectivity is also expected to facilitate trade, transportation and other economic activities.

The new bridge is anticipated to boost socio-economic development by enhancing accessibility and ensuring smoother movement of people and goods across the region.

The inauguration of the Madhapur Railway Over Bridge marks another step in Assam’s efforts to upgrade transport infrastructure and improve connectivity throughout the state.
