Guwahati, May 4: Amid early counting trends indicating a strong lead for the National Democratic Alliance in the Assam Assembly elections, Asom Gana Parishad president Atul Bora expressed confidence that the BJP-led alliance would return to power with an enhanced mandate.
Describing the initial trends as “a good beginning”, Bora said the NDA was likely to outperform its previous electoral performance. Speaking to reporters in Golaghat, he attributed the alliance’s prospects to the development work carried out by the government and the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Bora also criticised the Indian National Congress, alleging that the opposition had failed to gain public trust due to a lack of meaningful work for the people of the state.
He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party would once again secure a decisive majority in Assam and reiterated that Sarma was set to return for another term as Chief Minister.
