BJP MLA Shiladitya Dev Accuses TMC of Institutionalising Corruption in West Bengal

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shiladitya Dev has launched a strong criticism of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that the party inherited and institutionalised a culture of corruption in West Bengal.

Commenting on the ongoing political developments involving the TMC, Dev claimed that practices allegedly introduced during the rule of the Communist Party were subsequently adopted by the TMC, which, according to him, went on to train its cadres in corrupt activities.

He further alleged that individuals associated with illegal operations and syndicate networks are now facing increasing difficulties owing to enhanced scrutiny and enforcement measures.

Referring to the political landscape following the BJP’s growing influence, the BJP legislator said people are now more willing to speak out against corruption and unlawful activities without fear.

Dev’s remarks come amid continuing political exchanges between the BJP and the TMC over issues relating to governance, corruption and law and order in West Bengal.

The Trinamool Congress has consistently rejected similar accusations in the past and has accused the BJP of launching politically motivated attacks against the party and its leadership.
