CISF Jawan, Wife Killed in Chirang Road Accident; Daughter Seriously Injured

Chirang, May 16: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and his wife lost their lives while their daughter suffered serious injuries in a tragic road accident on the Bijni-Koklung road in Assam’s Chirang district on Friday night.

According to reports, the accident occurred after a speeding Swift car bearing registration number AS 26 F 2229 allegedly struck a scooter from behind, resulting in a severe collision.

The scooter rider, identified as Anamika Patgiri Ray, died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. Her husband, Rahul Ray, a CISF jawan who had recently returned home on leave, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Their daughter, Kasturi Ray, who was travelling with them, was also seriously injured in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Sources said the family had been returning to their home at Bhumkipara after attending the concluding ceremony of an annual puja at a temple in their village. The accident took place at Uttar Shilbari while they were on their way back.

Following the collision, the driver of the four-wheeler allegedly fled the scene without stopping.

Police later seized the vehicle involved in the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain further details surrounding the accident.
