Class 10 Student Killed by Lightning While Playing Football in Assam’s Gossaigaon

Gossaigaon, June 15: A Class 10 student died after being struck by lightning while playing football in Upendranagar F.V. village under the Gossaigaon subdivision of Assam on the afternoon of June 14.

The deceased was identified as Theophil Murmu (16), son of Bajun Murmu and a resident of Upendra village.

According to local sources, Theophil was playing football with his friends in an open field when lightning struck amid inclement weather. He suffered critical injuries in the incident.

Family members immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police later recovered the body and sent it to Kokrajhar for a post-mortem examination on Monday.

The tragic death of the teenager has plunged his family and the entire village into mourning. Residents expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the young student and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
