Dhubri Police have arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized a quantity of suspected psychotropic substances, an air gun, a mobile phone and suspected counterfeit currency during a raid at an unauthorised medical shop in Kalapakani Pt-II.
The operation was conducted by a team from Dhubri Sadar Police Station under the supervision of Officer-in-Charge Pritam Das. Police raided the premises allegedly operated by Eliyas Sarkar, son of Hamed Mollah.
During the search, officers recovered 672 Pyeevon Spas Plus tablets weighing around 383 grams, 260 Nitcor-10 tablets weighing approximately 145.6 grams, 150 suspected Yaba tablets weighing around 25.5 grams and 15 Xedex tablets.
Police also seized an air gun, a OnePlus mobile phone and suspected counterfeit currency valued at Rs 5,600. The suspected fake notes comprised four Rs 500 denominations and 18 Rs 200 denominations.
All the recovered items were taken into police custody, while Sarkar was arrested in connection with the case.
Dhubri Police have launched a further investigation to trace the source of the suspected contraband, determine the extent of the alleged drug network and identify any other persons who may be involved.
