Duliajan, May 23: The Department of Sociology at Duliajan Girls’ College organised a two-day workshop on “Academic Writing and Publication” to strengthen research quality, publication ethics and academic writing skills among students and teachers.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Utpal Sut, who lit the ceremonial lamp and emphasised the increasing importance of quality academic writing and ethical publication practices in higher education.
The inaugural session was attended by Dr. Arun Roy and Dipankar Sharma as guests of honour. During the event, Sharma released the fourth edition of the college’s educational research collection, Unmilan, and suggested measures to strengthen its academic and research standards.
The first academic session, titled “Academic Writing: From Desk to Journal – Search and Research”, was conducted by Dr. Debasish Bose. The second session was led by Dr. Rizia Begum Laskar on “Quality Dimensions of Research Papers and their Impact on Publication”.
More than 40 participants, including students, teachers and faculty members from different institutions, attended the first day of the workshop.
The second day was conducted virtually through Google Meet and featured a lecture by Professor Dev Kumar Chakraborty on “Methodological Dimensions of Research Papers and their Impact on Publication”.
Resource persons discussed key themes including academic writing, research methodology, publication ethics and scholarly communication. Interactive sessions held during both days saw active participation from attendees who exchanged ideas and shared academic experiences.
The workshop was conducted under the patronage of Dr. Jashashya Bora, while the programme was anchored by Dr. Bani Lekha Phukan.
The Department of Sociology expressed gratitude to the speakers, guests, participants and volunteers for contributing to the successful completion of the workshop.
