Udalguri, June 14: Assam’s Guardian Minister for Udalguri district, Neelam Devi, on June 14 chaired a review meeting with officials of various departments and stressed the need for collective efforts to address the district’s challenges and ensure sustained development.
Speaking at the meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Udalguri, the Minister, who also holds the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Fisheries portfolios, said the district had witnessed significant transformation over the years. Recalling her earlier visits to Udalguri during BJP organisational activities, she said the region had once faced inadequate road connectivity and poor infrastructure, but considerable progress had since been achieved.
As the Guardian Minister of the district, Neelam Devi said the welfare and development of Udalguri would continue to remain a priority for the alliance government. She emphasised the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding among all stakeholders, stating that coordinated efforts and unity were essential for achieving long-term development.
The Minister also highlighted the need to preserve communal harmony by respecting and promoting the languages, literature and cultural traditions of different communities. She stressed the importance of tackling unemployment and strengthening the district’s economy, while also underscoring the need to improve administrative efficiency and governance.
Referring to her earlier visit to the district on June 11, Neelam Devi said administrative matters had not been the focus of that trip, but assured that all aspects of development and governance would receive due attention in the coming days.
The review meeting was attended by Assam BJP president and Darrang-Udalguri MP Dilip Saikia, Transport Minister Charan Boro, Bhergaon MLA Maheswar Boro, Tangla MLA Bikram Chandra Deka, Executive Member Fresh Mushahary, MCLAs Diganta Barua and Ajay Kumar Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner Bijay Prakash, Additional Deputy Commissioners and heads of various government departments.
