Itanagar Police Recover 14 Stolen Two-Wheelers, Apprehend Four Minors in Theft Case

Itanagar, June 26: In a significant breakthrough against vehicle theft cases in the Capital Region, Itanagar Police have recovered around 14 stolen two-wheelers and apprehended four children in conflict with the law in connection with a recent theft case, officials said.

According to the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Capital, the recoveries were made during a sustained 20-day operation aimed at curbing two-wheeler thefts in Itanagar and adjoining areas. The drive was launched after the registration of Itanagar Police Station Case No. 171/2026 under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on June 25.

Police said the four apprehended individuals are minors aged between 10 and 14 years, and were taken into custody in accordance with legal procedures governing children in conflict with law. Based on their disclosures during the investigation, police were able to trace and recover approximately 14 stolen two-wheelers from various locations across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and Papum Pare district.

Officials further stated that the recovered vehicles included the scooter directly linked to the case. The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Itanagar, and the Officer-in-Charge of Itanagar Police Station, involving sustained intelligence gathering, field verification and continuous follow-up by the investigation team.

Authorities also noted that registration numbers, engine numbers and chassis numbers of several recovered vehicles appeared to have been tampered with. Verification of original ownership details is currently underway, after which the vehicles will be handed over to their rightful owners following completion of legal formalities.
