Kaliabor, May 27: Police in Kaliabor conducted a late-night operation on May 26 and seized two vehicles allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of cattle, while detaining four individuals in connection with the case.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out along the Kuwaritol highway, where two vehicles bearing registration numbers AS 23 DC 5148 and AS 02 DC 8045 were intercepted during checking operations.
Officials stated that the vehicles were allegedly transporting 33 cattle that had reportedly been brought from Upper Assam and were being taken towards Meghalaya.
Police rescued the cattle and seized both vehicles during the operation.
The four individuals detained in connection with the case have been identified as Wahid Khan and Rafikul Islam, both residents of Sivasagar district, along with Hafizul Islam and Nawab Sirajuddin from Rupahihat in Assam.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine additional details related to the transportation and possible links associated with the case.
