Sualkuchi, July 16: The first meeting of the MY Bharat District Advisory Committee in Kamrup was held at the District Commissioner’s Office in Amingaon under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Susanta Kumar Dutta to review the implementation of the youth engagement initiative and strengthen the ongoing registration drive across the district.
MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat), an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aims to empower young people aged 15 to 29 by providing opportunities in volunteerism, leadership development, community service, skill development and other nation-building activities. Eligible youth can register through the official MY Bharat portal to participate in the programme.
During the meeting, members discussed strategies to increase enrolment and ensure wider participation of eligible youth from across Kamrup district.
Chairing the meeting, DDC Dutta stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments for the successful implementation of the initiative. He urged officials to work closely with Panchayati Raj Institutions, schools, colleges and other educational institutions to create awareness about the programme and encourage youth registration.
He also suggested that colleges form internal coordination teams under the leadership of their respective principals to facilitate registrations and maintain effective coordination with the district administration.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Monika Borgohain, the Assistant Director of Employment, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, District Youth Officer, Cultural Development Officer, Youth Officer of NSS NER, District Information and Public Relations Officer, District Programme Manager (Skill Development), assistant professors and representatives of college NSS units.
