Majuli Police Destroy Illegal Liquor Worth Over Rs 15 Lakh Following Court Order

The Majuli district administration and police on June 11 destroyed a large quantity of illegally stored Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) seized from different parts of the river island as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the illicit liquor trade.

Acting on a court directive, Majuli Police destroyed nearly 1,500 litres of illegal liquor at Darbar Chapori. Officials said the consignment, estimated to be worth more than Rs 15 lakh, had been seized during a series of enforcement operations carried out across various locations in the district over the past several months.

The destruction process was conducted in the presence of police and administrative officials, who oversaw the disposal of the seized liquor.

Authorities said the exercise underscored the administration’s commitment to strict enforcement of excise laws and efforts to prevent the illegal sale and transportation of alcohol in the district.

Police also warned that action against those involved in the illicit liquor trade would continue and reiterated their resolve to intensify operations aimed at curbing such activities in Majuli.
