Morikolong Robbery Case: Main Accused Injured After Police Vehicle Meets With Accident in Nagaon

Nagaon, May 16: The main accused in the Morikolong robbery case in Assam’s Nagaon town sustained serious injuries after a police vehicle met with an accident during a late-night operation at Borghat in Nagaon.

The injured accused has been identified as Rajibur Rahman, a resident of Lakhimpur, who had earlier been arrested in connection with the robbery case.

According to reports, a team of Nagaon Police was carrying out an operation with the accused in an attempt to recover the stolen gold linked to the case. During the late-night operation, another vehicle reportedly collided with the police vehicle.

Rajibur Rahman suffered serious injuries in the accident and is suspected to have sustained severe injuries to both his legs. Two police personnel from Nagaon Police, including officer Biman Gogoi, were also injured in the collision.

All the injured individuals were immediately shifted for medical treatment. Rajibur Rahman is currently undergoing treatment at Nagaon Medical College Hospital.

Police sources said the investigation into the Morikolong robbery case is continuing and further action is being taken as part of the probe.
