Guwahati, May 27: A motorcyclist lost his life after his speeding motorcycle crashed into an electric pole in front of the Assam Legislative Assembly in Guwahati on Tuesday night, May 26.
According to reports, the deceased was riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle and was travelling from the Ganeshguri side when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into an electric pole at high speed.
The impact of the collision was reportedly severe, following which the motorcycle caught fire and was quickly engulfed in flames. The rider sustained critical burn injuries to his face and other parts of his body.
Sources said the youth died on the spot due to the severity of the accident. He was reportedly a resident of Dhemaji district.
Police personnel reached the location shortly after the incident and began necessary procedures related to the case. However, some local residents alleged that an ambulance reached the spot late despite police presence in the area at the time of the accident.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
